ORDINANCE NO. 2006-8

AN ORDINANCE TO REDUCE THE NUMBER OF CARTHAGE PARK DISTRICT COMMISSIONERS
WHEREAS, Chapter 70 ILCS, Section 1205/2-10a provides that any district by Resolution of the Board may create a seven member board, and

WHEREAS, On September 10, 2001, the Carthage Park District, a quasi-municipal corporation, pursuant to said statute, created a seven member Board of Commissioners, and

WHEREAS, it is now in the best interest of the Carthage Park District to reduce the number of Commissioners to five, and

WHEREAS, the statute provides that the number of Commissioners may later be reduced to five, but only by a referendum.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of the Carthage Park District, a quasi-municipal corporation, of Carthage, Hancock County, Illinois, as follows:

1. The number of commissioners should be reduced to five.
2. The referendum shall be placed on the ballot to ask the voters of the Carthage Park District to reduce the number of Commissioners to five.
3. The Secretary of the Carthage Park District shall certify a copy of this Ordinance and deliver said certified copy to the Hancock County Circuit Clerk.
4. The President and Secretary of the Carthage Park District are hereby authorized to sign any documentation to effectuate the referendum being placed on the ballot.
5. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval as provided by law.

Passed and adopted by the Board of Commissioners for the Carthage Park District, a quasi-municipal corporation of Carthage, Hancock County, Illinois, this 13th day of February, 2007.
